APP2.EXE PATCH for the Software RIP v2.1 for the hp designjet 10ps/20ps


Description

We have detected certain instances where the Software RIP v2.1 for the hp dj10ps and dj20ps will not run correctly on Windows machines. Upon launching the software RIP, the error message "Invalid Page Fault in App2.exe" appears. This occurs with all versions of Windows. A patch has been developed to resolve this issue.


Warnings:
=========
* Do not apply this patch unless your installation exhibits this issue!!
* Do not apply this patch without first upgrading the printer firmware (A02.09 as of May 15, 2003) Use the System Maintenance Tool to do this.
* Apply this patch only to version 2.1 of the hp dj10ps or dj20ps Software RIPs. Do not apply this patch to either the hp dj500ps or hp dj120 Software RIPs.

The patch can be downloaded from http://www.designjet.hp.com, under the "Technical Support" section for the hp dj10ps and dj20ps printers.


How to apply the patch
=======================
1.  Download and unzip the patch if you have not already done so.
2.  Make sure the printer is upgraded to the latest available firmware (A02.09 as of May 15, 2003) 
	IMPORTANT: DO NOT APPLY THIS PATCH WITHOUT FIRST UPGRADING THE PRINTER FIRMWARE!
3.  Uninstall the current software version of the rip. (Add/Remove Programs)
4.  Remove the folder (c:\program files\hp designjet 10 or 20ps rip) associated with the rip. 
5.  Reboot the computer before you try to install the new version of the rip. 
6.  Install the 2.1 version of the software. After the reboot of the pc continue the install process for the postscript driver. 
7.  After the installation is complete, launch the software to verify the app2.exe error. 
8.  Search for the file app2.exe. Once you find it, rename the file to app2.exe_original.*
9.  Copy the included file (app2.exe_patched) to the location of the previous one from step 8 and rename it "app2.exe".*
10.  Launch the software and verify that the Rip starts/run correctly. 


* note: if you cannot see the extensions of files in Windows Explorers, you may need to disable the option "Hide Extensions for Known File Types". This can be found under Tools->Folder Options->View from the Explorer menu bar.
